Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family
and the Campbell County community to know about the good work that they
do for this organization.
Meet Melisa Haddix, the Social Service and Bereavement Coordinator at CCH
Home Health and Hospice. For those who don’t know,
Home Health provides care to patients at home-where they receive support from trained
medical professionals, family, friends, plus the comfort of familiar surroundings; while
Hospice care addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient
through comfort care, symptom and pain management from life-limiting or
terminal illnesses. November is Home Health and Hospice Month, so it’s
very suiting that we celebrate Melisa as well.
Melisa has a Master’s Degree in Social Work and has worked at CCH
for more than 16 years, and has worked in health care for more than 18
years. She was inspired to work in health care because of “the ability
to help people during some of their most difficult times,” she said.
Melisa also mentioned that she has several health care heroes, including
her husband,
Monte Haddix, who works in the Campbell County Medical Group
Neurology Clinic in the
Main Clinic. “The first time I met him, he was working as a trauma nurse. Watching
him care for a patient that was very ill was inspiring. His dedication
and compassion regarding the situation and his knowledge of medicine made
me fall in love with him ...and healthcare,” she says. She also
mentions one of CCH’s Legends:
Mary Barks. “Mary has always been someone I strive to be more like. She is
such an asset to CCH and she is amazing with patients and families.”
When she’s not working, you can find Melisa socializing with her
family and friends. She also enjoys fishing and loves to paint. “And
dogs. I love to spend time with my dogs,” she says.
We asked Melisa what she likes most about working for CCH and what excellence
every day means to her. Check out her response:
“I feel the most pride in my job when I can be part of a team to
bring peace to our patients, in their dying process or in their grieving
process. I love being part of a team to take the best care of our patients
we can. I feel privileged to work for CCH and especially for hospice.
Excellence every day is going the extra mile, taking the extra time, kindness,
concern, and consideration.”
We appreciate you Melisa. Thank you for being such a valued member of our team.
