Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family
and the Campbell County community to know about the good work that they
do for this organization.
Allow me to introduce Katie Rohan, RN, who works in the Campbell County
Memorial Hospital
Medical/Surgical Unit. Katie graduated with an associate’s degree in nursing from
Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska, and has worked for CCH for nearly five years. Katie’s
first gig in healthcare was as a
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at a long-term care facility her hometown of Emerson, Nebraska.
Katie worked there while obtaining her LPN and RN, and only left when
her and her family moved to Gillette.
Katie says her grandmother was her inspiration for going into nursing.
“She raised 13 children on her own and went to nursing school after
my grandfather passed away. Out of the whole family, I was the only one
to go into healthcare, so it’s a special bond we share,” says
Katie. Katie also says that her health care heroes are all of her coworkers
who inspire her daily with their dedication and pride that they have while
taking care of the patients on the floor. “One person who I have
truly learned a lot from and admire is
Deb McMurtrey, I hope to be half the nurse she is!” says Katie.
Outside of work, Katie and her husband, Will, enjoy camping, hiking and
going back home to Nebraska to see their family and friends. We asked
Katie what she likes most about working for CCH, and what excellence every
day means to her. Check out her response:
“Working on Med/Surg we see a wide variety of patients each day,
and you never know what challenges are headed your way. There’s
always something new to learn, and I really enjoy that. My co workers
and the teamwork they show to help each other out when things get hectic
is another reason I like working on med/surg, we ban together to make
sure our patients get the best care.
Excellence every day means that I’m coming to work each day and providing
the best care I can to my patients. And, knowing when I leave at the end
of my shift they received the utmost care from me.”
Thank you Katie for taking such great care of our patients on the Med/Surg
floor. We appreciate you!
