Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family
and the Campbell County community to know about the good work that they
do for this organization.
Meet Shauna Gunnels, RN, who works in the Campbell County Medical Group
Internal Medicine Clinic in the Main Clinic, on the south side of Campbell County Memorial Hospital.
Shauna worked as phlebotomist and medical assistant for a few years while
she was going to college, and even worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant
at Pioneer Manor for a while, too. She earned her Licensed Practical Nurse
(LPN) and Registered Nurse (RN) degrees right here at
Gillette College. In fact, she was the President of the Nursing Class and a member of Student
Body Council, and graduated Phi Theta Kappa with High Honors. Shauna is
also graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing this month! She’s
worked at CCH as a nurse since 1994, and most of her years were spent in CCH
Home Health and Hospice and
Case Management.
Shauna always knew that she wanted to be a health care provider of some
sort. “When I was younger, I would bring home all the little kids
and stray animals in the neighborhood and wrap them in dressings and Band-Aids.
My poor siblings were constantly being assessed for booboos or temperatures,”
she said. “I asked for a doctor or nurses kit/bag every year for
Christmas. The workings of the human body were intriguing to me—I
wanted to know what it looked like on the inside.”
When Shauna is not at work she loves spending time outdoors. “I am
a climbing Instructor at the
Campbell County Recreation Center and have been a rock climber for about 14 years. I love backpacking, hiking
and scuba diving,” she says. She’s also the proud grandmother
of four fabulous grandchildren and says that she “would willingly
give up everything to just be the Granny Nanny and spend all day with
the four of them if I could!”
We asked Shauna what she likes most about working at CCH, and what excellence
every day means to her. Check out her response:
“I feel proud to be a nurse every time I know I have made a small
difference in someone’s life. I love the teaching aspect of health
care and nursing. Knowing that you have given someone an answer, a glimmer
of hope, a direction, or even just a nugget of knowledge that they will
use to better their health and situation makes me feel good about my job.
My coworkers and the providers here in the Main Clinic are the best part
of my job. Everyone has the patient’s best interest at heart and
goes the extra mile to help each other out.
For me, excellence every day means putting your best foot forward and striving
to do the best you can every day, and not just at work, but in life in
general. It means accountability and performance that makes your patients
and coworkers happy to work with you.”
Shauna, you are a shining example of excellence at CCH. We’re proud
to have you on our team!
