Each year during Lent,
St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Gillette, Wyoming and its parishioners participate in the Brown Bag
Project to raise money for an organization in our community. This year
they chose to benefit the Activity department at
The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Recently, Father Cliff presented The Legacy Activity Coordinator Marla
Russell with puzzles, craft supplies, gift cards, bingo money and money
to purchase a cotton candy machine and slushee machine for our residents.
"We are very blessed to have such wonderful support from St. Matthew's
and every one who participated in the brown bag project to promote the
quality of life for the residents through the activity program! Thank
you so much," says Marla.
Thank you, St. Matthew's for your generosity. It is truly appreciated
and is sure to bring a smile to many faces.
For those who don't know, the activitie's team at The Legacy are
tasked with improving residents quality of life during their stay. The
activities the residents participate in encourage socialization, provide
entertainment, relaxation and fulfillment, and improve daily living skills.
It’s important for residents to have access to a variety of activities
in order to appeal to everyone’s interests and to enhance the residents’
well-being. Other activities residents participate in include fishing
at Dalbey Memorial Park, attending community events, playing bingo, going
out for ice cream, planting gardens, making bird houses or glass art,
and much, much more.
