Thank you Veterans and 2016 Veterans Day activities in Gillette

Nov 08, 2016

Today, November 11, is Veterans Day. A day of remembrance and patriotism. A day to be proud of and to recognize our veterans who have stood in harm’s way to protect the freedoms we enjoy.

For those who don't know, Veterans Day was originally referred to as Armistice Day, which represented the cessation of hostilities in World War I on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. In 1954, after having been through both World War II and the Korean War, Congress amended the Act of 1938 to honor American veterans of all wars.

The community of Gillette, Wyoming has several activities planned to honor our veterans:

  • 7 am: Placing flags on graves at Mt Pisgah Cemetery
  • 11 am: Memorial Ceremony Lasting Legacy Park
  • 1 pm: Veterans Day Parade, at the corner of 4J and Second Street
  • 5 pm: Reception at the American Legion Hall, 200 Rockpile Blvd, with a dinner following at 6 pm (dinner free to Veteran and one guest)

For the veterans who served or currently serve, and for those who work or provide professional services at Campbell County Health, thank you for selflessly putting aside your needs to protect our nation. We are eternally grateful for you:
