Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family
and the Campbell County, Wyoming community to know about the good work
that they do for this organization.
Allow us to introduce Angie Taylor, a licensed
Cosmetologist at
The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center in Gillette, Wyoming. Angie has been with CCH for the last four years.
Sure, normally a cosmetologist does not fall into the category of health
care worker, but for Angie, it does. “I was working at a local salon
and heard that Pioneer Manor (before it was The Legacy) was looking for
a cosmetologist. It sounded like a good challenge for me, so I applied,”
Angie says. “At The Legacy, I am part of a team of healthcare workers
who work to enhance the lives of the residents, and for me that means
helping them feel good about the way they look. Most people know that
they feel better after a new haircut or hairstyle. It’s no different
for the people living at The Legacy, and I get to be an important part
of the healthcare team.”
Angie calls CCH Legend
Rose Rennell, who recently retired from CCH, her healthcare hero. “I met Rose
when she first started coming to me to have her hair done. That was over
20 years ago. I admire that she overcame a tragedy; she stayed positive
when most people would give up. Rose is like a grandma to my kids; she
has shown them how to overcome adversity, to give of yourself, even when
you don’t have everything yourself; and that success is possible,
even in the worst circumstances,” she says.
Outside of work, Angie calls Keyhole her happy place. “I love camping
with my family and enjoying the peacefulness of the water, and sitting
around a campfire,” she says. “My husband and I love to hunt
and camp in the mountains as well. Basically, anything that allows me
to spend time with family is what makes me happy!” Angie also says
that she spends a lot of time on the road with two kids, a son and daughter,
who both play hockey. “It means lots of miles on the road, but I
love watching them compete and learn life skills through athletics,” she says.
We asked Angie what she likes most about working for CCH, and what excellence
every day means to her. Check out her response:
“I feel proud of the work I do when I see the smile on a resident’s
face after a fresh hairstyle. I love seeing residents pass by the salon
and they wave and smile as if to say, ‘I can’t wait to see
you again.’ I’m proud to be a part of a team who focuses on
what our residents CAN do and how we CAN enhance their lives. That makes
me proud to be a part of CCH.
My work at The Legacy means that I’m taking on the challenge of finding
a way to meet each individual need of the residents. Some can scoot right
up to the sink in the salon; most can’t. Some can tell me exactly
what they want to have done to their hair; most can’t. Some can
sit still for 20 minutes; most can’t. I love finding a way around
those challenges so that each and every resident who comes to the salon
feels they had the best experience possible. If it means adapting how
I wash their hair or learning how to communicate when a resident can’t
speak the words, I’m up for that challenge. The reward is in meeting
those individual needs, in finding a way around the obstacles and seeing
the smile in the end. That’s what I love about my work: Helping
a resident feel GOOD as they leave the salon.
Excellence Every Day is doing my best every day; bringing my best to work
every day. Excellence Every Day is staying positive and finding success
with a resident despite circumstances that present themselves. It’s
going home at the end of the day knowing I made a difference.
Thank you, Angie, for making a difference in our residents’ lives
every day. We appreciate you!
