Thanks for working here Thursday: Hollie Kreul, RN-BC, CCH Behavioral Health Services

Jul 25, 2018

Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family and the Campbell County community to know about the good work that they do for this organization.

Meet Hollie Kreul, RN-BC, who works in Behavioral Health Services at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming. She started working at CCH in October 2003, which means Hollie’s close to 15 years this fall—and of those 15 years, she’s worked 12 in Behavioral Health! Hollie earned an Associates of Applied Science in Nursing and is a Certified Psychiatric Nurse through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). You can find Hollie in the Behavioral Health Services medication clinic, in the inpatient psychiatric unit, as well as with utilization review. For those who don’t know, Behavioral Health Services provides the Northeastern Wyoming community with compassionate, confidential and comprehensive treatment of behavioral disorders, mental illness and substance abuse treatment following detox.

Hollie says that growing up as the oldest sibling in a large household, which also included foster children, she developed, “a natural ability toward taking care of others.” In fact, one of her first jobs while in high school was at in a medical records office at her local hospital, which later moved into a position as Utility Aide on a mother and baby floor. “This became my most memorable job and inspired me to think that a nursing degree was in my future,” Hollie says.

Hollie says her mother is her greatest healthcare hero. “As a teen, I watched her always taking other less fortunate individuals into our home to care for them. Not only were we a foster home, but she had a tendency to bring in friends who were in divorces and had no place to go, along with single teen moms who she knew was struggling. Life was never dull growing up,” she says.

Outside of work, Hollie loves spending time in beautiful outdoor places—she greatly enjoys the Black Hills, as well as spending time with her family, home, and church. Hollie is also a soap artisan, and loves sharing her soap creations and handmade bath products in craft fairs. We asked Hollie what she likes most about working at CCH, and what excellence every day means to her. Check out her response:

“I'm one of those who can say that I've worked in healthcare all my adult years, but the best part is that I have done so many different things in healthcare. This field has taken me into caring for the mentally challenged, nursing homes, a doctor’s clinic in dermatology, home health and a few different departments here at CCH. It’s what I love about his field, there are so many choices!

What gives me the most pride about my work is being involved with a great team and witnessing the positive healthy outcomes of our patients. It is rewarding to know you have helped to make a difference in the quality of life for others. What I like the most about working in my department is the work relationships I have built with my coworkers and with all the staff, especially in Behavioral Health. There is comradery and team work in mental health nursing that makes it unique. I believe this has taught me many things in itself over the years that I could not have learned otherwise.

Excellence every day to me means that I treat everyone I come in contact with throughout the day with kindness and respect, to keep myself up-to-date with education and informed in policies that affect my performance, and be willing to participate with a team to find solutions that produce good outcomes in care and treatment of our patients.”

Thank you, Hollie for providing the very best patient care to patients in Behavioral Health Services. We appreciate you!
