Allow us to introduce you to Cathy Comeno-Stamato, MBA, BSN, RN, who works
as a Project Coordinator – MACRA with the Campbell County Medical Group
Clinic Administration in Gillette, Wyoming. Cathy earned both her Master of Business
Administration (MBA) and Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) at the
State University at Binghamton, New York. She’s been with CCH for three years, but
has been working as a nurse for more than 30 years. Her position with
Clinic Administration involves developing an ongoing strategy for compliance
in reporting data to
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). She says that she has learned through her experiences over the
years to develop a very in-depth knowledge of the federal and state regulatory
environments impacting healthcare.
Cathy was inspired to work in healthcare because she has always been interested
in helping others. “I come from a large family that believes in
the importance of caring for others. I have many family members who are
involved in community service-related employment, such as firemen, a policeman,
a teacher, nurses, a physical therapist and a physician,” she says.
Cathy calls her husband, Dr.
Nick Stamato, FACC, an interventional cardiologist with CCMG
Cardiology her healthcare hero. “He has always had a passion for what he does,
and inspires those he works with to care for their patients as if they
were members of the family and provides the best care imaginable,”
she says. “He leads by example and inspires many to be really invested
in the care they provide. He has also encouraged me and others to work
hard and succeed at their own career goals. I earned my MBA while working
full-time, raising a family and managing a large ambulatory practice;
and he was a great source of support while I worked on that goal.”
When she’s not at work, Cathy (and her husband Nick) enjoy traveling,
visiting their families, playing golf, watching the Orioles and the Cubs,
hiking and exploring western spaces, and reading.
We asked Cathy what she likes most about working for CCH, and what excellence
every day means to her. Check out her response:
“I enjoy educating others working in the clinic and the hospital (CCMH), about the changing healthcare payment landscape, which requires continuous
education to stay up-to-date with new regulations. I also enjoy assisting
the providers and managers in meeting the reporting compliance goals set
by CMS, and together have achieved success in reporting annually since
I started working here.
I enjoy meeting and working with my colleagues in Clinic Administration,
the providers and clinical and operational staff in the clinics, and the
associates in the other departments throughout the hospital that I interact
with—especially the
Information Technology team whose work is critical in enabling successful regulatory reporting.
To me this phrase—excellence every day—means always using 110%
of your talents, experience and heart to achieve your own goals while
delivering a high quality product, but also helping and encouraging those
around you to realize their own goals and achieve high quality in their
own work.”
