April 2016 Volunteer Spotlight: Sherry Percifield

Apr 08, 2016

In honor of National Healthcare Volunteer Week on April 10-16, Campbell County Health is highlighting some of our volunteers.

Meet Sherry Percifield! Sherry just started volunteering with CCH by making these beautiful Angel Blankets. Often parents do not have a blanket when they lose a baby due to an unexpected miscarriage or stillbirth. That's where Sherry's creation comes in. CCMH's Maternal Child Unit now has a supply of these hand-quilted, very special blankets.

"These special babies need to go to heaven in something special," says Sherry.

"There's definitely a need for these blankets, and parents will appreciate it—we appreciate it," says Josie LeMaster, Maternal Child Director.

Sherry also does K9 Therapy with special needs kids at the Campbell County School District and has plans to attend the upcoming Hospice Volunteer Training later this month—applications are due Friday, April 15.

Thank you, Sherry for all that you do for CCH! We appreciate you.

At CCH, there are more than 340 adult and youth volunteers who are coordinated by Michele Ridgeway. In 2015, volunteers gave 10,072 hours, which is valued at over $210,000! Our dedicated volunteers give their time and expertise for the betterment of Campbell County Health, Campbell County Health, Campbell County Medical Group, Hospice, Pioneer Manor and more. Volunteers reap many personal benefits—the accomplishment of performing worthwhile work, visiting with old friends and meeting new ones. Our volunteers make a difference in someone's day simply by being there.

There are many volunteer opportunities available, such as clerical support, administrative assistance, pastoral care/chaplains, childcare, Gift Shoppe sales, hospice, Information Desk/Welcome Desk, music in the lobby, and the summer Junior Volunteer Program. Hours are flexible to meet the needs of the volunteer.

Do you like to help others? Do you have some free time? Do you have a talent to share? CCH volunteers support their community in many ways - come join them. Learn more at www.cchwyo.org/volunteer.
