Elaine Wilcomb with the
First United Methodist Church in Newcastle, Wyoming needed something to keep herself occupied earlier
this year when she threw out her back. She came across the American Heart
Association’s (AHA)
Little Hats, Big HeartsTM program, recruited some help from her church and delivered nearly 50 hats
to Campbell County Memorial Hospital’s
Maternal Child department in early February.
According to
AHA website, volunteers from around the country are joining the American Heart Association,
in connection with
The Children's Heart Foundation, to celebrate American Heart Month by knitting and crocheting red hats
for babies born in February at participating hospitals. Little Hats, Big HeartsTM honors babies, moms, and heart healthy lives in a very special way. Supporters
are knitting and crocheting red hats to be given out to thousands of babies
during American Heart Month in order to empower moms to live heart healthy
lives and to help their children do the same.
The Little Hats, Big HeartsTM campaign is intended to raise awareness, provide resources and inspire
moms to take their family’s heart health to heart while also raising
awareness about Congenital Heart Defects.
Special thanks to Elaine Wilcomb and the First United Methodist Church
in Newcastle, Wyoming for their generosity.
Due to infection prevention standards, CCH can only accept brand new items—we
may not accept gently used plush toys, clothing or blankets; used books
are taken on a case-by-case basis. Items must also come from a smoke free
establishment. If you wish to donate items to Campbell County Health,
please contact Community Relations at 307.688.1580.
