Meet Judith England, a Campbell County Health
volunteer in
Chaplain Services. As a volunteer Chaplain, Judith provides spiritual support and encouragement
to patients, their families and staff members.
She started volunteering at CCH several years ago after a close friend
invited her to play the piano for residents at Pioneer Manor. Judith said
that she enjoyed seeing the residents visibly relax when listening to
the hymns played, so she decided to continue volunteering.
Currently, Judith spends her Monday mornings at
The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center leading devotional time and hymn songs for residents. She also makes rounds
twice a week at
Campbell County Memorial Hospital in the
Medical/ Surgical,
Intensive Care Unit and
Emergency Departments. Additionally, she is on-call for a week every two months-
coming in after hours or on weekends if needed.
Judith is a member of the Health Emergency Action Response Team (HEART),
providing emotional first aid to CCH staff when there has been a critical
incident. Healthcare providers need spiritual support when they experience
a traumatic event in order to prevent burnout.
Judith enjoys the time she spends volunteering at CCH; she likes helping
others by providing spiritual encouragement and meeting new people in
the process, and is grateful of the support she receives as a volunteer
in the Chaplain Program.
“I appreciate CCH’s support of the Chaplain Services Program,”
says England. She loves that she is encouraged to continue her training
to offer the best services to patients and staff.
Judith became ordained nine years ago and is a pastor at the First Church
of the Nazarene when not volunteering at CCH.
She frequently spends time with her family, as five of her seven grandkids
live in Gillette, Wyoming. To relax, Judith reads, cooks and tends to
her flower gardens.
Because of volunteers like Judith who volunteer their time and talent,
CCH is able to provide “whole-person” healing to patients,
residents, family members and staff.
“To serve alongside Judy to provide spiritual care to our community
continues to be an honor and a pleasure,” says Chaplain Coordinator
Donny Edwards. “She brings skill in her care and a deep love and compassion for
our patients and residents each and every day, and it is an honor to not
only call her a co-minister but my friend.”
Judith embodies the spirit of volunteerism—giving her time for the
