CCH Board approves seven additional rooms to CCMH Inpatient Room Replacement project

Jan 30, 2019

The Campbell County Health Board of Trustees approved a recommendation to add seven additional rooms to the Campbell County Memorial Hospital Inpatient Room Replacement Project on January 24.

The request would increase capacity for the Medical Surgical unit to 22 beds and ICU to seven beds, for a total of 29 beds in those departments. The seven additional beds will be constructed in what is currently the Maternal Child Unit.

Hospital census data collected over the past six months shows a need greater than the 22 rooms that were currently planned. In addition, trends suggest that the number of ICU stays will continue to increase in the future.

In addition, the need for healthcare services will potentially increase as the number of older Americans increases, both locally and nationally.

The cost for the additional seven rooms is approximately $3 million. There are several options for funding: using capital budget funds that are typically not spent in the current fi scal year, budgeting the needed funds in the FY19-20 fiscal year or delaying construction of the courtyard area in the middle of the patient room project.

The Maternal Child section of the project, located on the east side of the building, expected to be completed by this summer.
