Melissa Gideon, RN, (or Mel, as she likes to be called), loved her job
as a registered nurse, caring for residents at
Pioneer Manor, until a recommendation from a former teacher at
Gillette College landed her a job at
Powder River Surgery Center in 2013.
“The residents bought me a cake,” says Mel. “I cried
the whole day when I left that job.”
It didn’t take long for Mel to get the surgery bug, and eventually
she took advantage of the opportunity for a leadership role at the PRSC.
She learned most of the clinical roles and helped support her colleagues
during the transition to Campbell County Health ownership. Mel is especially
grateful to Interim Director
Colleen Heeter.
“Colleen is a great leader and I’m grateful for the chance
to work under her,” says Mel.
Mel has definite plans for the future too. She is going to start working
on a business degree in the fall, in order understand all parts of the
PRSC operations.
Please join CCH as we congratulate Mel in her new role!
