This is my first official blog post as the interim CEO. Like many of us, I’ve entered, somewhat reluctantly, the world of social media in an effort to keep you informed about what’s happening at CCMH.
But today I’m not going to talk about our doctors, employees or
services; I want to talk about our
volunteers.
This week is National Healthcare Volunteer Week, and we are so fortunate to have 230 volunteers who have contributed more than 11,000 hours of their personal time over the past year to help others in our hospital, clinics, long term care facility and hospice. They have a calling to service for others and we truly appreciate the gift of their time and their hearts—thank you.
Those 230 volunteers include 43 junior volunteers and
mentorship students. We feel strongly that part of our role in the community is to provide the opportunity for young people to learn about healthcare and cultivate the love of helping those in need. We look to them, the next generation, for the employees we will need to take our places when we retire. The example provided by our
adult volunteers helps to guide our junior volunteers and give them positive role models.
If you have a few hours to give, consider joining our active volunteer program. I know that there is an opportunity to fit your talents and schedule. Contact our Volunteer Services department at 307.688.1536 to get started.
I’ll be posting each week and encourage your comments or questions.
Regards,
Andy
Note: On Monday, April 22, we held a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon to applaud our volunteers and thank them for the work they have done. You can see more pictures from this event on our Facebook page.
