I have been working in hospitals for 33 years, and there is no place else I will ever work. No one can do what we do for our community. Whether you work in Surgery, or
PT, or
Nutrition, or Environmental Services, you are part of a team that cares for our community. Every person in our organization is valuable and contributes to keeping our city healthy.
I don't know how many of you have ever thought, "What would Campbell County be like if CCMH didn't exist?" I know. It would not be good.
In the movie It's a Wonderful Life, Jimmy Steward gets to see what the world would look like if he had never lived. He finds out that the world would not be as good a place without him. Without CCMH and all of our employees working hard every day to care for our patients and residents, our community would be a much poorer place to live. There are businesses that could close in Gillette and, while it would cost the community something, would it cost them their health? Only we are the guardians of health in our community, and only we can do what we do.
I hope all of the CCMH employees have had a great hospital week. We've had breakfast together, barbecued together, drank coffee together from the Coffee Shoppe, and even kissed some baby pigs. It's been fun, and I hope we can have more fun in the future. You can see pictures of this week's shenanigans on
Facebook.
We each have stressful jobs, but I hope we can have some times like this week to celebrate what we do and why we do it. Join me in saying Happy Hospital Week and thanks to the employees of CCMH!
