As a
geriatric specialist,
Dr. Nahida Khan routinely counseled her patients on finding ways to improve their quality
of life. But when she discovered that she needed to define what quality
of life meant for herself, she realized that she needed a change. Dr.
Khan began actively looking for a smaller community and a smaller hospital
with the opportunity to practice both geriatric medicine and primary care.
Fortunately for us, she found both right here at Campbell County Health.
Dr. Khan comes to Gillette from
Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where she practiced clinical primary
care in a retirement community and served as the medical director. She
attended medical school at
Ross University School of Medicine in Dominca, did her residency in Internal Medicine and completed a Fellowship
in Geriatric Medicine at
Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. She is Board Certified in
Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine and will be practicing at Campbell County Medical
Group's Main Clinic. Dr. Khan also has training in palliative care
and will help
Dr. Meade care for
hospice patients when she is on vacation.
Dr. Khan will see both internal medicine and geriatric patients in her
practice. She believes that practicing geriatrics has made her a better
primary care clinician, and is looking forward to working with younger
patients too. She knows that many health problems start when patients
are relatively young, and she can help people start making positive changes
earlier in their lives.
When asked what she likes about Gillette so far, Dr. Khan said she likes
the relatively smaller size of the hospital and the chance to work in
a clinic environment with other specialty physicians available for consultations.
Dr. Khan is looking forward to utilizing the
Rec Center when she gets used to the higher elevation in Gillette. She loves hiking
and will soon be training for a hike up Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa
next September. She is also passionate about dance, and wants to become
proficient in Spanish and French.
Please welcome Dr. Khan to Gillette and Campbell County Health.
