Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family
and the Campbell County community to know about the good work that they
do for this organization.
Say hello to
Myra L. Deobald, BSN, RN, CPAN, who is a pre-anesthesia testing nurse in the Campbell
County Memorial Hospital
Surgical Services Department. Myra earned her Associate of Applied Science & Associate of Science at
Gillette College; she later went on to earn her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at the
University of Wyoming. She’s a certified perianesthesia nurse from the
American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing, and is certified and a certified instructor of Advance Cardiac Life Support
(ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Myra has worked in
healthcare for more than 21 years, and started working at CCMH in March
1996, left for a while in 2004, and then returned in October 2007. She
has worked in
Cardiac Rehabilitation,
Medical-Surgical Unit, OSTS, and
Powder River Surgery Center.
Myra often found herself caring for others who were sick, and she really
enjoyed math and science when she was in school. When she was 28, and
her two children were entering school, she started to look for an occupation
that would utilize her gifts and talents. “The first person I cared
for was my grandmother, who at the age of 47 had a stroke leaving her
paralyzed on the left side, and having her right arm amputated at the
elbow. I often cared for her when she was in our home to visit or we visited
her prior to her going into a nursing home,” says Myra.
Myra thought back on who her health care heroes were, and she named two:
Deb McMurtry, RN, and Gail Graham, RN. “Deb is a nurse who loves
what she does and takes good care of her patients; she was also good to
me as a new nurse,” says Myra. “Gail worked side by side with
us when we were short staffed, and managed with compassion. She would
encourage when needed or set you straight just a quickly when you were
not doing things right. They are the ones that set high standards of compassion
and professionalism.”
Outside of work, Myra enjoys spending time with her husband, children and
grandchildren. “I love seeing my grandsons grow up; they are the
icing on the cake,” she says. Myra also enjoys camping, spending
time with friends, sewing, photography, and listening to music.
We asked Myra what she likes most about working for CCH, and what excellence
every day means to her. Check out her response:
“What makes me feel the most pride in my work at CCH is when I am
able to make sure that a patient is able to have a safe surgery and understand
what is going to happen to them in their experience. When a patient notices
that you as a nurse are trying to do the best for them even when they
do not like the answer. I desire to care for patients to make sure that
they are first and foremost safe and have a good outcome. I also like
being able to work with the various professionals throughout our community,
state and region. I like being able to use my experience to make a difference.
CCH works hard to keep up to date on staff education and equipment so
we as healthcare professionals can provide the best care available. I
have outstanding medical professionals to work alongside me. I also like
being able to connect with the patients and make a difference in their lives.
Excellence Every Day means that when I show up to work, I take care of
my patients as though they were my family. In doing that, I will ensure
that I do everything in my power to make sure that my patients have the
best outcome. I have had family members that did not get that benefit
and the outcome was not good. I take my job seriously and I love what
I do.”
Thank you, Myra for your dedication to CCH. We are proud to have you on our team.
