Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family
and the Campbell County community to know about the good work that they
do for this organization.
Meet Jessica Schurtz, RN, who works at the Campbell County Medical Group (CCMG)
Geriatric Medicine Clinic, which provides complete healthcare for adults over the age of
60, focusing on health promotion, and the prevention and treatment of
disease and disability. Jessica earned her
certified nursing degree (CNA) when she was 17 years old. She started college at
Montana State University in Bozeman (Go Cats!) and finished her associate’s degree in nursing at
Gillette College. She began her career with CCH three years ago at
Home Health and Hospice and transferred to CCMG in August. She is currently working toward her
bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN).
“I have loved working in health care since the day I started as a
CNA. Helping people is my passion, and it was further solidified when
my late husband died from complications of chemotherapy at age 26. The
nurse who cared for him—well, us—in his last hours, was so
compassionate, caring and knowledgeable. She cried with me and held me
when he died, and made a really horrible situation, not quite as horrible.
After that experience, I knew that I wanted to help people the way she
had helped me,” says Jessica.
Jessica names
Dr. Bernadette Meade as her health care hero. “She is one of the most caring, smart,
and compassionate people I know. I have worked with her closely in Hospice
and now in the Geriatrics Clinic, and I am always amazed with her dedication
and care to our patients. I am honored to get to work with her and be
a part of her team!” she says.
When she’s not working, Jessica loves to spend time with her husband,
two amazing step-children and their cat, Ozzie. The family enjoys gardening,
baking, music festivals, softball, baseball and working on do-it-yourself
projects around their home.
We asked Jessica what she likes most about working for CCH, and what excellence
every day means to her. Check out her response:
“Some of the very best people I have met in my life, are the people
who I worked with at Home Health, and continue to work with in the Clinic.
We have some amazing and great people in this organization! My patients
also make my job worthwhile. I have always had a special place in my heart
for geriatrics, and enjoy their wisdom and stories.
Excellence every day to me means, making a daily commitment to be kind
and compassionate to everyone I encounter, even in tough situations. You
never know what a patient, family member or co-worker might be going through.”
Thank you, Jessica for caring for our patients to the best of your abilities.
We’re proud to have you on our team.
