Did you know that April is Occupational Therapy Awareness month? In honor
of this recognition, Campbell County Health wanted to shed some light
on this profession and introduce our therapists.
Jamie McIntosh is an Occupational Therapist Assistant who works with three
other occupational therapists at Campbell County Health
Rehabilitation Services. Jamie graduated from the
Casper College Occupational Therapy Assistant program in 2013, and has worked in Short
Term Rehabilitation, skilled nursing facilities and home health settings
following graduation. “I enjoy working with patients with neurological
issues, and have furthered my education in stroke rehab, splinting techniques
and myofascial release,” she says.
She likes working in Occupational Therapy because she believes it’s
a way to help people live the best life they can with the cards they have
been dealt. “We are not just fixing (our patients), we are helping
them to live the best life possible,” she says.
Jamie said she became an Occupational Therapist Assistant because she loved
the thought of helping people and the ability to make a difference in
people’s lives. “My favorite thing about my profession is
our ability to think outside of the box,” she says. “Occupational
therapy has the ability to look holistically at our patients and use many
different interventions to increase a patient’s function.”
She wants the community members in Gillette, Wyoming to know that therapy
at CCH Rehabilitation Services offers a larger variety of skill sets because
of the diversity in the staff, which gives them the ability to treat many
different diagnoses with a good functional outcome.
Thank you, Jamie, for being a part of the team at Occupational Therapy
at CCH Rehabilitation Services.
Occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants help people
of all ages participate in the things they want and need to do through
the therapeutic use of everyday activities. Unlike other professions,
occupational therapy helps people function in all of their environments—for
example, at home, work, school and in the community—as well as addresses
the physical, psychological, and cognitive aspects of their well-being
through activities. Occupational therapy services are available to patients
at the Stocktrail Building, or in the comfort of their own home. Learn
