Meet Bonnie Tranel, a long-time
volunteer for Campbell County Health (CCH).
Bonnie frequently helps at
The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center, which offers both long term care and short term rehabilitation for residents
and patients.
Bonnie began volunteering when her daughter Sherri was admitted as a resident
at Pioneer Manor in the fall of 2001. She visited her Sherri every day,
spending several hours in the long-term care facility.
Sue Todd, a previous volunteer who was very active in the Adult Volunteer
Program at CCH, convinced Bonnie to become involved in CCH’S Volunteer
Program since she was at the Pioneer Manor so often.
Bonnie says her volunteer work started with decorating the entryway of
Pioneer Manor, along with the halls and tables throughout the facility.
She would also assist with any crafts and projects that residents would make.
“I thoroughly enjoyed it,” remembers Bonnie of the days she
spent decorating and helping at Pioneer Manor.
On November 2, 2016 the 115 Pioneer Manor residents
moved over into the new long-term care facility, The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation
Center, in just one day. Bonnie came along with residents, even assisting
with the move.
Today, Bonnie volunteers about three times a week; helping with various
resident activities like Bingo and the Catholic Mass. Bonnie enjoys spending
time with the residents.
“Volunteering at The Legacy is good therapy for me,” says Bonnie.
Her daughter Sherri passed away in May 2018. Bonnie now spends hours visiting
with residents in the Spruce Neighborhood, where her daughter lived.
“The residents all have a story to tell,” comments Bonnie,
“It’s just a very rewarding experience.”
In addition to her work with CCH, Bonnie is a volunteer at the
Campbell County Senior Center, where she works as a greeter and helps in the kitchen when needed. Bonnie
also enjoys helping prepare the monthly community dinners at her apartment complex.
Outside of volunteer work, she enjoys spending time with her family. Bonnie
has five kids, most of whom live in Wyoming and Colorado.
Bonnie embodies the spirit of volunteerism—giving her time for the
opportunity to help others. Thank you, Bonnie, for caring for our residents
at The Legacy Rehabilitation and Living Center.
