In early October, a special piece of bronze art was celebrated at The Legacy
Living and Rehabilitation Center in Gillette, Wyoming. The Golden Years
is a depiction of the artist, Austin Weishel’s grandparents’
true and everlasting love.
Austin has a passion for firefighting and being a sculptor, every piece
of art he creates has a real-life meaning. Austin hopes that The Golden
Years statue, “brings joy to both the folks who live at The Legacy
and the employees who generously care for them like family.” You
can learn more about Austin online at
austinweishel.com or on his
Facebook page.
The sculpture was purchased and donated by the Kate Weis Trust. The Kate
Weis Trust funds capital improvement projects for Campbell County Health
and was created by Kate Weis, a long-time Campbell County, Wyoming resident
who worked as a nurse’s aide for many years at CCMH. Since the Kate
Weis Trust’s inception in 1973, more than $1.2 million of capital
items has been donated to Campbell County Health, including items at Pioneer
Manor, The Legacy and Campbell County Memorial Hospital. Often those items
are for patient’s and resident’s enjoyment such as this piece
of art, the grand piano in the Great Room. Sometimes the items donated
are out of necessity, such as the vans used to take residents to appointments.
