Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family
and the Campbell County, Wyoming community to know about the good work
that they do for this organization.
Meet Christie Boer, an Occupational Therapist (OTD, OTR/L) at
Short Term Rehabilitation at
The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center in Gillette, Wyoming. Christie earned her Occupational Therapy Doctorate from
Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. She’s been with CCH for the last two years, and has
been an OT for more than five years. For those who don’t know, short
term rehab is focused on getting people who have been hospitalized back
to their homes with a daily therapy schedule, such as physical or speech
therapy, and help with the activities of daily living like dressing and
cooking meals. Candidates for short term rehab are individuals who have
experienced stroke, prolonged hospitalization, total joint replacement,
functional or physical decline, major surgery or trauma.
According to Christie, her family inspired her to pursue a career in healthcare.
“My mother has worked in healthcare for over 20 years as a nurse
and nurse practitioner, and I have always looked up to her as a role model.
I also have an aunt who works as an occupational therapist and inspired
me to go into the OT field. Both of them are amazing at what they do,” she says.
As for her health care hero, Christie names her mother again: “She
is an excellent health care provider and is always striving to be better
every day. She is a great team member and always tries to think of her
patients first,” she says.
When she’s not at work, Christie enjoys spending time with family,
being outdoors, animals, photography, artwork, making jewelry, gardening,
soccer, and music.
We asked Christie what she likes most about working for CCH, and what excellence
every day means to her. Check out her response:
“I love working with my awesome team members, the great staff, and
the wonderful residents who live at The Legacy. I am proud of how our
team’s mindset is to strive to be better, and provide top of the
line care no matter what the circumstances are or how they differ. I am
proud that we constantly strive to make changes that positively impact
our community and the people who live at The Legacy. I am proud that we
focus on ethical and fair treatment and care every day.
Excellence every day to me means providing the best care for each resident
in every treatment session and giving the best of myself to my team members
in every interaction. Excellence every day means providing compassion,
dedication, and empathy with every person every day. Excellence every
day means always being a positive influence and constructive health care
provider, as well as following through on all commitments and tasks to
the best of my abilities. Excellence every day means all team members
working cohesively to critically think through and problem solve issues
and troubles that arise in order to raise our standard of care. Excellence
every day also means being forgiving and supporting others in their growth
no matter what stage they are at in their lives.”
Well said, Christie. We are proud to have you on our team.
