The Campbell County Health
Sleep Center celebrates Sleep Technologist Week October 27 – November 2.
Sleep technologists are respiratory therapists who are specially trained
to monitor and evaluate sleep disorders. An estimated 123 million Americans
suffer from sleep-related problems, and nearly two thirds of all adults
experience insufficient sleep three or more times per week.
Left untreated, sleep disorders can lead to serious health conditions like
weight gain, high blood pressure, cardiac problems, diabetes, and increased
risk of motor vehicle accidents.
“The best part about the Sleep Center Department is teamwork,”
says CCH Sleep Center Supervisor Dessie Hoxie. “Everyone works and
communicates well together, anticipating our patient’s needs and
striving to find the best possible solutions. I’m proud of our sleep
team!”
The Sleep Center at
Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming is specially designed for sleep studies and provides
a full range of diagnostic studies and treatment for more than 80 different
sleep disorders. The most commonly treated sleep disorders are:
- snoring
- sleep apnea
- insomnia
- restless leg syndrome
- shift work disorder
While patients sleep in quiet, comfortable rooms, sleep technologists observe
and record sleep patterns, heart and respiratory activity, and body movements
in an adjacent monitoring room. Most sleep disorders can be treated effectively
once they have been accurately diagnosed.
Dr. Michael Nolledo, a Board Certified
sleep physician, is the medical director of the Sleep Center. Campbell County Health’s
Sleep Center is accredited by the
American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).
A big round of applause to the CCH Sleep Center team! Thank you for all
that you do in keeping our community healthy, and well rested. Learn more
