Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family
and the Campbell County community to know about the good work that they
do for this organization.
Introducing
Karissa Morris, a Provisional Professional Counselor (PPC) with the Campbell County Medical Group
Kid Clinic in Gillette, Wyoming. Karissa has a master’s degree in counseling
and has been with CCH for nearly two years, but has been in healthcare
for 15 years. The Kid Clinic is a collaborative effort between Campbell
County Health, Campbell County Medical Group and
Campbell County School District to provide primary medical care, behavioral health and substance abuse
counseling services. The medical clinic serves children ages 2 weeks to
21 years old; and counseling services for children 4 years old to 21 years old.
Karissa was inspired to work in health care because she has always been
passionate about wellness and self-care.
“I started my career as a Health Educator/Wellness coach,”
she says. “I learned through personal experience and working with
my clients that I wanted to work with clients on a more meaningful level
which inspired me to continue my education in counseling.”
Karissa says that she has many healthcare heroes. “From influencers like
Bessel Van der Kolk and
Brené Brown, to the supervisors I've had and the clinicians I work with. Each
of them has helped me find my path in this field and continue to help
me grow daily,” she says.
Karissa calls herself a life-long learner. “When I am not at work
I am still reading, listening and watching things that can help me grow
as a person and clinician. I also love to spend time with my family, camping
or doing anything outdoors and traveling,” she says.
We asked Karissa what she likes most about working for CCH, and what excellence
every day means to her. Check out her response:
“I really enjoy seeing progress in the children that I work with.
The Kid Clinic has a great team of people. We can rely on each other,
respect each other and work well together. The team always puts forth
effort to put our clients first and give them the care that they deserve.
Excellence every day is very simple to me: Show up and work hard. When
you fall, show up again using what you learned to do better.”
Thank you, Karissa, for showing up for your young clients every day. We
are proud to have you on our team.
