Gillette’s newest Board Certified OB GYN physician heard about the opportunity here at a Christmas party she was attending in 2014. She had been in private practice in the Chicago area since 2002, and her clinic was acquired by a multi-specialty group in 2013. She came out to Gillette to visit in the middle of the winter, and started working in mid-July.
“I took a chance, and here I am,” said Dr. Wang.
Dr. Grace Wang attended medical school at the
University of Illinois College of Medicine in Urbana-Champaign and Rockford, IL. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at
Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, MI. She came to Gillette from the Chicago area, and joins
Dr. Dave Beck at Women’s Healthcare, PC.
“Who you work with is very important,” said Dr. Wang. “Dr. Beck is a highly qualified physician who cares about his patients. He’s also from Chicago,” she added.
Dr. Wang considers the whole person when she talks to her patients. She says that 90% of the conversations she has with patients are not clinical. She asks how things are going at work, if exercise is part of their daily routine and about their relationship with their partner.
“I’m not there to lecture,” she said. “I’m their advocate and I help give them a voice. I see it as a partnership.”
Dr. Wang and her husband Michael have two boys, ages seven and nine, and are looking forward to the many opportunities available for their sons in the Campbell County School District. When she’s not working, Dr. Wang likes to spend time with her family, read and do some writing.
